I’ve been taking piano lessons for about a year now. This is something I’ve wanted to do my whole life and now that my son is finished with all his piano lessons, guitar lessons, hockey, soccer, blah, blah and blah, of course I’m now into 3rd year university fees but that’s a different post, I thought it would be a great time for me to do something for me. I love playing and practicing, I even think I sound good at times, but then I go to my lesson and my fingers refuse to do what my brain is telling them to do. I’m sure my teacher is tired of me telling her how great I was playing at home, how I hit every note and that my dog even sits and listens to me. Don’t get me wrong I have progressed and now that I’m actually playing tunes that I recognize, it’s even better.
So tonight I’ll go to class and try to play the Entertainer for her and of course I’ll miss a few notes, my timing will be off, and I’ll use the wrong fingering, but you know what, it doesn’t matter, I’m having a great time and it’s one more thing off my bucket list.
